Kiriko's motive for impersonating Gotoh.[]

Anime scene: https://youtu.be/kxwBnjbdA7U?t=19m13s

I added a "possibly" before "so that Killua won't know that [Gotoh] was killed" because I think that the reading that the Kiriko was only here to pass on information about Killua's wellbeing to Canary (and possibly Amane) is just as valid as the one in the article or at least valid enough to mark the one on the article as interpretative. To try to map out the pros/cons I made the list below, feel free to add arguments.

Some points in favour of the Kiriko hiding Gotoh's death from Killua:[]

  • Illumi is arguably responsible for Gotoh's death, so Killua might go out of control if he learned of Gotoh's death.
  • Why else did the Kiriko impersonate Gotoh? He could seem like an unlikely choice to impersonate for infiltrating the premises, so he would be just making a bad joke on his way to informing Canary.

Some points against:[]

  • Gotoh's relationship with Killua is such that he was able to convey to Killua crucial information about the butlers' allegiances and the family members' objectives with very subtle cues so Killua would probably be able to notice the Gotoh is false quickly.
  • Gotoh has a tomb presumably on the Zoldyck premises so Killua would probably find out unless the tomb is hidden somewhere.
  • The anime scene can be read as Amane doesn't know of Killua's whereabouts and wellbeing, suggesting that he is still on the run
